All Together Now!
Gandalf, Bilbo, and Thorin.
The author uses wise use of characterization to affect the plot and theme in the story. J.R.R. Tolkien also gave specific descriptions of Bilbo, Gandalf, and the other Dwarves in the novel, which lets the reader visualize images of them easily. He even used a variety of characters with different relationships to each other to make the book more interesting. For example, Bilbo mainly knew Gandalf from his fireworks and the stories he often told. Bilbo the hobbit, Thorin the dwarf, and Gandalf the wizard were all created for certain reasons. Gandalf was created to help the hobbit and the dwarves through tight situations, Bilbo was created to be the reluctant hero and main character of the story, and Thorin was created to be the irresponsible leader. The Hobbit is a well detailed and fantastic story that uses characterization perfectly to make the story sound real. J.R.R. Tolkien is obviously a very talented and creative author.
